Pastor Herbert Thompson, Jr.
In 1978, Pastor Herbert Thompson, Jr. and several of his friends and family were invited to a revival at the Williams Temple Church of God In Christ; it was during that revival that Herbert accepted the Lord. Soon he became a member of Williams Temple, under the leadership of Bishop Columbus Williams. In 1983, under the headship of Elder Lawrence M. Wooten, Herbert acknowledged his calling; to go into all the world and preach the Gospel… Matt. 16:15. Herbert was ordained as an Elder of Williams Temple, by then Bishop W. Wesley Sanders. Additionally, while serving under his uncle, the Reverend Dr. Steven G. Thompson, Herbert was ordained as an Associate Minister at the Leonard Missionary Baptist Church. Recognized early in his ministry as a gifted and anointed preacher; he was often called upon by his Pastor Lawrence M. Wooten to preach, on his behalf, at various services and events. Elder Thompson served the Williams Temple ministry in several capacities, most notably as Youth Leader and a core member of the Evangelistic Team. Elder Thompson has successfully worked for Laclede Gas for over thirty (30) years and held his position as the Collection Supervisor. During that time he has been involved in many community oriented projects i.e., Loaned Executive/Spokesperson for the Greater St. Louis United Way. This past year he retired from Laclede Gas to be able to work in the ministry full-time. Desiring to further his education, Elder Thompson completed his Bachelor of Business Administration from Fontbonne University in 2008. He has attended LAEL Christian College and is currently enrolled at the International College of Bible Theology where he is pursuing a degree in Theology. In March, 2010, he answered the call to feed God’s people with knowledge and understanding…as a Pastor. With the support and encouragement of his Pastor, Bishop Lawrence M. Wooten; Elder Thompson, with Jannie his beautiful wife of thirty-three (33) years by his side, founded Ramoth City of Refuge Church Of God In Christ.
